        Escape from the supposedly inevitable island prison of Alcatraz

        Three men - Frank Morris and brothers John and Clarence Anglin - did the unthinkable. They escaped from Alcatraz and were never found. they were  convicted of bank robbery.

        

        Alcatraz. A dangerous and desolate prison, built on an island in San Francisco Bay. It was designed as a maximum security prison and it was believed that no one would be able to escape from Alcatraz. Called the most secure prison in the world, this prison was built for those criminals who were notorious for escaping from prisons.

        Alcatraz means "the rock."

        The convicts began developing their plan last December when one of them found an old saw blade in prison.

        Using a homemade drill made from the motor of a broken vacuum cleaner, each prisoner loosened the air holes in their cells.

        

        Once through the ventilators, they gained access to an unguarded corridor and then climbed to the roof of their cell block where they had a secret workshop.

       

        Using different raincoats, they built a rubber raft. They used an old musical instrument to make a device to inflate the raft. They also made wooden paddles. they also designed a life vest.

       

       No one knew until the morning of June 12 that the three men were not in bed. They placed cleverly crafted dummies on their beds to fool the night guards. The dummies were made of plaster, flush-tone paint and real human hair. They were never traced
