was Oscar Micheaux first black flim producer?

The first #BlackFilmmaker, Oscar Micheaux (1884–1951), produced 44 silent and talking films between 1919 and 1948. He also wrote seven novels. Micheaux established his own film production firm after noticing how some Hollywood movies disadvantaged black actors and reinforced misconceptions about them. The Homesteader, his first #SilentFilm, was adapted from his 1917 novel of the same name and released in 1919. The first #AfricanAmerican feature film was The Homesteader. During the #JimCrow era, he produced the silent film Within Our Gates in 1920. The film was produced by black people for black people and featured a black cast. It was a critique of D.W. Griffith's racist Birth of a Nation (1915), which celebrated the Ku Klux Klan and featured white actors wearing blackface.
